Bold Jumper

Phidippus audax

Description:

The Bold Jumper is a member of the family of jumping spiders (Salticidae). The majority of P. audax specimens are black with three white spots. Size 4 - 18 mm.

Habitat:

This one was observed at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park near Augusta (Richmond County), GA. It was crawling on the boardwalk that leads from the parking lot over Butler Creek to the visitors center.

Notes:

Another common name is Daring Jumping Spider. Food includes insects, spiders and possibly other small invertebrates. This specimen was identified on BugGuide.net.
