I believe this is actually an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. It can be confusing with the dark phase females. One of the easiest things I have found to help with identification is to look at the body. Black swallowtails have light spots on the abdomen and Eastern Tiger Swallowtails do not. Black swallowtails also have more yellow on the wings than the dark phase female Eastern Tiger Swallowtails. https://bugguide.net/node/view/298231
