The Texas Rat Snake and Black Rat Snake are both Pantherophis Obsoletus; however they are two different subspecies. The Black Rat Snake is Pantherophis Obsoletus Alleghaniensis; the Texas Rat Snake is Pantherophis Obsoletus Lindheimerii.
