Mute Swan

Cygnus olor

Description:

The Mute Swan is less vocal than other swans (hence the name). This very large swan is recognisable by it's protruding black knob on top of it's bill. Males are larger than females. Mute swans are monogamous, share the care of their young (cygnets) and often use the same nest year after year, repairing it as needed.

Habitat:

Live and nest by the waterside.
