Description:

Dark to light brown, look black when wet, slightly darker on the back than on the underside.( Smithers' mammals of southern africa a field guide. fourth edition)

Habitat:

Coastal waters up to 160 km from the coast.

Notes:

The cubs were at the center of the colony and around walked a black-backed jackal ready to feast on them.
