Violet Asystasia

Asystasia dalzelliana

Description:

Info from a friend studying flora in IISc: " From this pic it is clear that the type of Inflorescence( arrangement of flowers on the main axis) is Racemose-older flowers at the base and younger ones at the apex. It is evident that the petals of the first flower on the right has fallen post fertilization due to pollination, the second one is the only open flower and third is just minutes from opening while the young ones are yet to bloom. It is a complicated process at the molecular level involving various enzymes and light requirements."
