Lyonia lucida

Description:

An evergreen shrub w/ arching stems forming a thicket. The leaves are shiny, dark green,w/ a vein that runs parallel w/ the margins. The flowers are pale to deep pink produced in clusters.

Habitat:

This flower showing its first growth of the year was situated at the edge of a creek of a County nature Preserve. the soil beneath it was fairly moist as the water has receded from the area back to the creek w/ dry conditions for over a week.
