Kowhai

Description:

Kōwhai are small, woody legume trees in the genus Sophora native to New Zealand. There are eight species, Sophora microphylla being the most common. Kōwhai trees grow throughout the country and are a common feature in New Zealand gardens. Outside of New Zealand, kōwhai tend to be restricted to mild temperate maritime climates.

Thanks. Seeing a fully blooming kowhai tree is similar to seeing the cherry blossom but it's just bright yellow :)

Beautiful. I never got to the North Island, which explains why I don't remember seeing any of these. I did however get to see lots of other stunning flowers native to New Zealand. Amazing place.
