Thanks. Actually in Central Florida the nature trails have the presence of Gopher Tortoises posted so that you know where to look for them. There are heavy fines and jail time if you disrupt them, but so cool to walk a path and see one foraging of just strolling through the local forestry
No criticism at all, just a point of interest. There's some info about endangered species in Project Noah's FAQ. The site administrators can hide a spotting's exact location in cases of critically endangered organisms. The gopher tortoise's status may not be serious enough, but it's good to know PN thinks about that kind of thing. Keep on spotting ... you have a beautiful collection.
It is endangered. I merely used a small camera and held it at opening to burrow and took picture. I love these creatures and would in no way do anything to hurt them

In its burrow, juliejim, that's dedication! I'm away from an easy way to check right now, but I think this is an endangered and/or protected species.
