Northern River Otter

Description:

Noticed wet paw prints leading from the creek to the pond. Then I spotted the large river otter swimming and diving. Brown sleek body, small ears, flat head, large nostrils and a thick tapered tail.

You mean Hidden Lakes? Also seen near the Beavers in Martinez. They also been spotted in Richmond at Meeker Slough.

jellis,great set of pics. I love the 4th pic. They are at hidden Valley Park too.The park was recently refilled with trout in the lake.there are 2 of them and parents.

On the coast of Monterey and Santa Cruz in California we also have the Sea Otters.

The Otter is up there as one of my favorite animals. I only get to see them in zoos unfortunately. Perhaps one day I'll travel abroad and see one in the wild.
