This species can be very confusing because it's scientific name has many synonyms. Rana chalconota and Hydrophylax raniceps are actually referring to the same species. Other synonym names are Hylarana raniceps, Hyla chalconotus, Rana raniceps and Hydrophylax chalconotus.

What about Hydrophylax raniceps or white lipped tree frog. I believe the doctoral student I was with kept calling it a white lipped tree frog. I couldn't remember that until your reference to Rana chalconota led me to this similar species in Borneo.
