Prunus X Cistena
This is a lovely purple leafed shrub suitable for hedging in that it only grows to about 8.2 Feet. It wakes from winter with pink flower buds which open to single white/pink subtle flowers on the old wood and these are closely followed by bright reddish purple leaves which stay crimson red throughout the summer before changing to bronzy green autumn leaf color.
It likes moist, well drained soil and sun or semi shade and is adaptable to the urban environment tolerating poor soils, drought, heat or very cold conditions.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. Flowers are fragrant
