You are quite correct that you have the exoskeleton. It is the exoskeleton of the Cicada. The Cicada can be heard in late Summer on hot days in the tree tops calling out for a mate. I am even if you have been to any wooded area or park with mature trees you have heard them calling from the tree tops.
