Description:

Low-growing mat with erect flower stalks. Flowers reddish in the bud, maturing to bright sulfur-yellow.

Habitat:

Dry open slopes or flats, in sandy or rocky soil.

Notes:

Spotted at timberline on south side of Mt. Hood. Abundant above Timberline Lodge.
