Fake

fake owl

Description:

I thought that this bird seems a little unusual. Is it real or fake?My attention turned to it only because the squirrels were signaling the presence of a predator.

Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how many times I've caught a glimpse of one and thought it was an owl in the evening.

I agree that it is a fake bird as described by dferris1

That would be a fake owl. These statues are used to scare away unwanted nuisance animals such as pigeons, squirrels, etc. Though it only works for a little while, as they will eventually be habituated to it, since it doesn't move.
