Golden Hawk's-Beard

Crepis aurea

Description:

Orangey-red flowers with hairy buds and stems, seems to be more yellowish in the centre. I have been unable to find much info on these flowers, and most of it seems to indicate that these are Alpine flowers that grow at altitude. Reykjavik is not that high above sea level, so I guess these plants can grow in lowland too. Only found a small patch, not very widespread.

Habitat:

Found in a little bay near Kopavogur, where a lot of wildflowers were growing in abundance.

Notes:

Only found a small patch of these plants, I was only able to ID them because I recognised the hawk's-beard shape and just google for an orange or red hawk's-beard. I wonder if it's a widespread flower in Iceland, or only localised to small patches? If anyone has a good wildflower key for the country, let me know.
