Xylobolus frustulatus

Description:

Frustose crust fungus with smooth, gray to white-colored, thick surface that resembles broken ceramic tiles. Xylobolus frustulatus is a member of the Stereaceae family. It is usually saprobic on highly rotted oak.

Habitat:

Growing on a highly rotted willow oak (Quercus phellos) log.
