Carolina Anole

Anolis carolinensis

Description:

This anole was such a dark brown, it caught my attention as it scrambled down the tree trunk. Apparently the dark color can be an indicator of stress, which perhaps it was. Judging from the color difference of the head and tail, it was in the process of shedding.

Habitat:

Habitat yard on Belton Lake.
