Hericium erinaceus
This delicious edible mushroom, with a mild seafood flavor, also has many medicinal uses. It has been given for a variety of stomach issues from gastritis to cancer. It is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, boosting the immune system, and reported to inhibit cancer DNA and RNA synthesis. Though the most promising aspect of this fungus is it increasing nerve growth and promoting the developement of myelin, a protective sheath over your nerves that assists in transmission of nerve impulses. All of this holds great promise in the treament of a variety of neurological disorders or injuries, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, and dementia to name a few.
