Tersa Sphinx Moth

Xylophanes tersa

Description:

Family: Sphingidae Green, roughly 2.5 inches long with a pronounced horn on its hind end. One large eyespot with six smaller eyespots in a line down their sides.

Habitat:

Host plants: smooth buttonplant (Spermacoce glabra), starclusters (Penta species), Borreria, Catalpa, and Manettia species.

Notes:

Found in my garden feeding on a red penta plant.
