Carabus coriaceus
The largest mid-European beetle, 4.5 cm
Ground beetle in deciduous forests of mid-Europe. Lives under leaves, rocks and logs. Eats other insects and worms.
Spotted in Urlev, Hedensted, Midt-Jylland, Denmark. This one came inside at night while I was sleeping with the terrace door open.
