Motorbike frog

Description:

Amphibian, common name for this robust frog refers to its nocturnal call, which sounds like a motorbike shifting gears.

Habitat:

Locally (South Western Western Australia) coastal mixed banksia and heath, wetter areas of habitat.

Notes:

This resident of our residential bush block is often found around the house near water and outside lighted areas hunting insects. The emerald green spots and bands are diagnostic, but vary considerably between individuals.
