Common Garter Snake (eating a frog)

Thamnophis sirtalis

Description:

Black with three, yellow lengthwise stripes on their back and sides. Non venomous.

Habitat:

Found along a river.

Notes:

While walking along a river we came across this snake who had just caught a frog. We watched, stunned as this tiny headed snake devoured a pretty large frog in under 10 mins. The consumed lump was pushed down his body pretty quick before he slithered off.
