Ricaniid bug hiding from death

Scolypopa australis

Description:

Amused by the ability of some hoppers to see danger from a long way off and shuffle out of view on the other side of a plant stem, I watched these two manouvering around twined stems of Jasmine for quite a few minutes. Stalemate.

Habitat:

Outer urban back yard.

Notes:

One Ricaniid bug (Passion vine hopper) and one Reduviid bug (Assassin bug) http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Scolypopa+...
