Big Brown Bat

Eptesicus fuscus

Description:

First year male big brown bat

Habitat:

Urban/suburban residential areas

Notes:

This severely dehydrated bat was found inside a building. In winter, bats sometimes find themselves inside buildings when they attempt to move to better hibernation locations. This young bat became trapped in a trash can. From it's appearance and health status, it was trapped for some time. It is under care and should make a full recovery. 2nd photo is from 1/28/14 after a week of hydration, medication, and proper nutrition.
