A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Itea virginica
It is a thin branched deciduous shrub that is semi-evergreen in the southern part of its range. It has small white flowers when it blooms. They appear in spires that droop. In the fall its foliage appears red.
This plant was observed along the boardwalk of a County nature Preserve. The soil was moist as the area was a transitional one from upland pine traveling into a wet swampy area.
