jeffperi, this is a great spot!

What you have here is, in fact, an adult male Carolina Mantis (Stagmomantis carolina). Males have long, slender bodies as compared to the heavy females. They also tend to be smaller than the females. This species is smaller than some of the other commonly seen mantids.

You can tell that this specimen is full grown because his wings fully cover his abdomen, which is normal for this species.
