Visiting various flowers in a vast open field of degraded shortgrass prairie with common sunflower (Helianthus anuus), yucca, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.
This is a common bee here, especially on sunflower. Males look nothing like females and could easily be mistaken for another species.
