Medium sized turtle, about 7 inches long.
Forested area near a small pond and fields in rural area.
Photographed in front yard, then returned to habitat.
Looks like a Three Toed Box turtle (Terrapene carolina triunguis). From the picture you can kind of see the toes on the hind leg. Also has red eyes (males) and a ridge down the center of the carapice.
