not known

Erateina sp. ? - possibly Trocherateina sp.

Description:

Small day-flying moth from a family of which I see quite a lot in South America, but this one is different to others I have seen.

Habitat:

Secondary forest relatively close to huge area of primary rain forest. Altitude 880 m.

Notes:

I quite often forget what setting I have left on my camera and sadly this morning I had left the exposure wrongly so that everything has turned out far too dark and I have had to try and correct that on the computer. Thus the photos (with flash) are not as good as they should be.

I had not heard of that one and see you had a go at one on Project Noah for someone else.
Using your suggestion I found Trocherateina cachara that was near, but the only Trocherateina on Flickr (again your suggestion) looks very different. I would still guess erateina more likely.

Definitely Geometridae, Larentiinae. Not really sure if Erateina, which would be certainly close, but we should not forget Trocherateina sp., though.
