Turnip Moth

Agrotis segetum

Description:

This species, also known as cutworm, is an important agricultural pest, feeding on roots and tubers of wide range of plants. The observed larvae is about 4 cm in length, mainly light brown with a yellow lateral stripe - this larvae will winter in this stade.

Habitat:

Found on our nets surrounding a lowland oak forest in Geneva lake valley. This particular forest is protected as an important habitat of Fire Salamanders, containing an important population of them.
