Red Bellied Black Snake

Pseudechis porphyriacus

Description:

The Red-bellied Black Snake is a species of elapid snake native to eastern Australia. Though its venom is capable of causing significant morbidity, a bite from it is not generally fatal and less venomous than other deadly Australian snakes

Habitat:

Habitat: Was pretty to excited to see this guy basking in the sun today. I tried to get a bit closer to get a head shot (obviosuly not too close) but he soon dissapeared under the log net to him quicker than I could press the shutter button!

It is a bit scary to see them up close in the wild. Did you read my story about rescuing one in Cherrybrook a few years ago? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/140...
