Description:

Small mushrooms with beige caps;with diameters of about 2 inches. Color white stems of about 2 to 3 inches.Conocybe apala is a basidiomycete fungus and a member of Conocybe. It is a fairly common fungus, both in North America and Europe, found growing among short green grass.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on soil among grass

Thanks for the ID, RandyL. I decided not to pick the mushrooms because I was just visiting a foreign university where the mushrooms were spotted. I was being extra careful not to violate any existing school policy in connection with the picking of mushrooms. Thanks again!

You should always take a picture of the underside of the mushroom for identification. There is nothing wrong with picking them, they are simply fruit bodies of the living mycelium, it's similar to picking an apple.
