Dark-webbed ringlet

Description:

A very distinctive small butterfly, the underside of the wings have black and white stripes and rows of orange spots. The upper surface of the wings (not shown in these photos) is dark instead of striped, but still has the orange spots.

Habitat:

Savannah/woodland

Notes:

Fairly frequently seen in the Siphiso valley in Mlawula Nature Reserve, and also observed along the top of the Lubombo mountains south of the reserve.
