Northern Lined Snake

Tropidoclonion lineatum lineatum

Description:

A slender snake about 25 cm long. The main color is gray with 3 beige stripes running the length of the body, on down the middle of the back and one on each side that look like they would be on the edge of the belly scales and the first row of scales. The stomach is white with two rows of black dots that join at the edge of the scale (see pic #5).

Habitat:

This individual was found near a small stream in an agricultural part of west central Iowa.
