Inornate pyrausta moth

Pyrausta inornatalis, (Fernald, 1885)

Description:

It is a small moth in the family (Crambidae) with a wingspan of 12 mm. The moth has bright pink wings with a tan hindwing and a triangle shape.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas. They can be commonly found flying around their host plant (Salvia sp.).

Notes:

It's distribution is Arizona, California, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. It is also found in Mexico.

Thank you, these are very tiny but the color is quite outstanding.

Cool! I just spotted one of these for the first time this week! They are so tiny I'm sure they are often overlooked.
