Large Tolype Moth

Description:

Family: Lasiocampidae (Lappet Moths) 1.25 inches long. Male. Adults have no mouth parts and do not eat. Hosts: Larva feeds on various broadleaf trees and shrubs.

Habitat:

Open woodlands. (Attracted to light) Has been at the front porch area for over 18 hours.

Notes:

It is still on the door area out front. This is a day photo and 2nd spot of the same moth found previously the night before.
