Love in a Puff, Balloon Vine, Heart Seed

Cardiospermum halicacabum

Description:

Fast growing vine with ferny foliage that will reach up to 10 ft. in one season. Each seed pod is a three-sided green balloon that turns brown and stays inflated! When squeezed, it "pops" and you'll find 3 charming seeds inside, each having a perfect white heart at the place where it was attached to the pod.

Habitat:

Bittern Marsh Trail in Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area.

Notes:

This vine is considered an exotic invasive in some states.
