A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ardea cinerea
A long legged predatory wader, standing about 1m tall in this meadow - a quite common sight in our region.
Often seen standing without moving in large meadows or bords of lakes and ponds. This winter, for the first time since we live in this appartement, I'm seeing this fellow almost every day on this pasture below our windows. The pasture borders our beautiful and (protected) lowland deciduous forest (mainly oak and beech) and few agricultural fields. All this is in a small rural town, part of Geneva suburbs in Geneva lake valley (French side).
