Bald Eagle

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

Largest raptor in the country with a very distinctive profile and field marks. Adult birds have a white head and tail with an overall body color of dark brown to black. The bill and legs are yellow. These field marks make it identifiable from long distances.

Habitat:

Lakes, rivers, marches and seacoast

Notes:

I was fortunate enough to see three birds on this outing, two that were together and a third that landed in another tree some distance from the other two. Always a thrill to see this beautiful bird.
