Digitalis Purpurea Alba
A comparision of a foxglove in a native and a cultivated setting. The native planting (to the left) is one third to one half the size of the plant in cultivated soil.
The native is found in a shady area in a well sorted, clean friable sandstone. The site is well drained. The cultivated one is in full sun with a sandy loam soil augmented with manure fertilizer.
