Euthalia (Lexias) aeropa
Caterpillars with 20 or so long white spiky lateral processes. The orange-banded plane caterpillar's host species is Calophyllum (See Habitat below and 2nd reference link). See an adult here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/753...
Spotted on a recently cut beach mahogany (Calophyllum inophyllum) branch in a pile of cut branches from a mixture of plant species. This was in a large semi-urban yard/garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
