Turkey Vulture

Cathartes aura

Description:

The presence of this bird was seriously upsetting a pair of Osprey who were chasing it. Two interesting things I have learned about them, at height you can tell them from Black Vultures by the underside of their wings which has a silvery light color across the whole wing, with the Black Vulture only having the silvery light color at the wing tips, also vultures have no feathers on and around head and neck because they are carrion eaters and feathers might become contaminated and cause disease in the bird, so it can stick its head inside a dead and rotting carcass without getting its feathers nasty.

Habitat:

Wetlands
