Roosevelt Elk are the largest of the four surviving subspecies of elk in North America.
Spotted this family of Elk on a morning walk. They were feeding in a grassy patch beside the beach.

That surprised me too, but the beach did back onto Prairie Creek Redwoods state park. Thanks Emily.
