American Black Bear

Ursus americanus

Habitat:

Spotted on Cyprus mountain, in the blueberries by the side of the Yew Lake trail.

Notes:

With a bit of imagination one can see this is a black bear, deep in a blueberry patch. Was on Cyprus mountain 3 days running and the first 2 days a bear had been spotted, but each time I was at the spot 5 -10 minutes late! Yesterday I was on time! There were 2 bears, it looked like mother and cub from the glimpses I got, but they were moving around a lot and my camera wouldn't focus fast enough when they popped up their heads - always in a different spot! But I got to see one very clearly on one occasion. Great day!

@EmilyMarino, no, it was taken with a 16x zoom. Maybe 10 meters away. But they were very busy with the blueberries!
