Hogna carolinensis
Back and Kansas with a carolina wolf spider I spotted at work. The largest wolf spider in North America and the state spider of South Carolina. Despite their impressive size they flee anything larger than themselves but of course will bite if provoked. Their fangs are large and can create mechanical wounds, but their venom is not medically significant, comparable to a bee or wasp. Which says something more for the bee or wasp species really. Why even evolve venom if you're considered the bell curve?
Found in North America.
