Southern Pacific Rattlesnake

Crotalus oreganus helleri

Description:

These two male rattlesnakes were battling over a female. It went on for about 40 minutes or so. They were thrashing against each other, rolling and twisting. The loser took off at a rapid pace while the victor gave chase.

Habitat:

Sagebrush, rocky outcrops.

I can't say I've ever heard of Pacific Diamondback. These look to be Southern Pacific Rattlesnakes, Crotalus oreganus helleri.
