Humpback Whale

Megaptera novaeangliae

Description:

A group of 3-4 adult humpback whales.

Habitat:

These whales belong to a group that travels to the Sea of Cortez in their annual migration from the North Atlantic

Notes:

After our approach in a small boat, this group of whales swam around and under our boat for a couple of minutes, emerging just 2 or 3 meters away from us. They are gentle, curious, and, above every other adjective, BIG!

Yes, the Hitchhiker's Guide :) I actually thought a lot about Douglas Adams and his article "Riding the Rays" during this trip!

A great series. Thanks for sharing your experience. Mostly harmless? ...as in Hitchhiker's Guide. Nice :-)
