Description:

About 8-9 millimeters in body length, colored red as shown.

Habitat:

This bee was visiting blossoms of a lone, blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in a vast open field of degraded shortgrass prairie with yucca, sunflower, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.

Notes:

These bees are easily mistaken for wasps at first glance.
