A small butterfly sometimes visiting my lime tree has left six tiny eggs on the leaf tips this morning.


Suburban front yard.


I have seen the adult and cat. on this tree before;

Every egg has disappeared during the heat wave. They were laid on the south (shady) side of the tree. The culprit may be heat or predation. The butterflies lay regularly but surviving eggs or caterpillars on this tree are rare.
